There is nothing wrong with the law, other then the principle stop sign violators refusing to follow it. Likewise it is wrong to have two sets of laws for the road, based on the vehicle, that is discrimination. The best solution is to ensure everyone follows the law, regardless how the vehicle they are using is powered.

“…cyclists prefer not to come to complete stops at every stop sign, not out of any scofflaw insurrectionist impulse so much as a matter of ergonomic efficiency and concern over wear and tear of the joints. A great degree of exertion is required to start pedaling from a dead stop. Over time, that torque can inflict damage on the knees.” Poor babies.
