Read about it’s history; it is not, nor has it been for decades, beholden to politicians or the citizenry. It is an example of a powerful, insulated, impermeable bureaucracy that is ONLY beholden to itself. Likely one of those “blueprints” biden was talking about when holding out California as the “model” for where the corrupt scumbag in the White House, and the (D)irtbags of his party want to “take” the country.
By logic these nitwits should hate whales. Blue whales eat up to 15 tons of plankton every day!

I would have predicted that this project would be fought tooth and nail by the environs and then failing that it’s costs would skyrocket into the 10’s of billions like every other project in this state.

A couple feet over many years? And the plant will be probably obsolete in 30-40 years? I have an idea, build the plant. Then when you need it, build a wall. Oh but we can’t have walls, can we? Orange man bad…

. . . let’s understand this from the perspective of the one party super majority authoritarian control of California democrat bueaucrats . . . RESTRICT water useage by intimidation, fines and “laws / mandates” . . . AND THEN RAISE the fees on the tax paying consumers
((( simple math, use less pay more – seems to be working for the electic utilities . . . why stop there ??? )))

Lets see. Won’t build new Power plants ( but want you to buy a EV ) Won’t build dams or new reservoirs, opened the prisons, trying to kill the 1st and 2nd A, Crooked relogged elections by a vapid Gel Hair elite, Won’t let farmers plant crops and keeps trying to blame imaginary global warming on everything.. Yep.. That’s the democrat Kalyfornia disaster and no Desalination plants to relieve a water shortage.. ALL being done on purpose.
Carrying a sign that says, “I am a plankton…”, really? Having a brain the size of plankton is a distinct possibility.
I didn’t know plankton were a special interest group. Where can I donate to the Plankton Lives Matter chapter in my area?
They would let California dry up into a smoldering cinder first. Open borders and unfettered immigration is a basic political plank of the Progressive Democrats.

Our entire state seems to be run by sadistic, deranged leftists with no thought, care, common sense or rationality. Greenies fight solar arrays in the desert, nuclear and natural gas plants anywhere, hydroelectric dams, desalination plants, and anything else needed to power first-world economies.
It’s as if they are purposefully trying to create scarcity and to punish ordinary citizens. Marxists, one and all.
I understand the problems and criminality that this documentary displays but I am afraid to watch it because it will just send me into an unwanted tizzy. A super PO’d state. I have been convinced since election night when all the “counting” had to be halted that something evil was amiss. The dots are being connected for all to see but what if anything will be done without massive loss of hemoglobin? Why won’t honest law enforcement nut up and just arrest their own bosses for dereliction of duty? Policy is not law. Citizen’s arrests? The belief that a crime… Read more »

Build it anyway. Newson was backing the desal plant only because he knew the coastal commission was not going to approve it.
It’s almost as if water / food / energy shortages, wild fires, crime waves, homelessness / addiction / ODs, garbage / human waste in the streets and poverty are by design.
“Almost”? All designed by those oligarchs with unimaginable wealth, hedge funds, private jets, 300ft yachts and survival bunkers in New Zealand.

Huntington Beach is full of patriots who get the water issue, a self inflicted wound by the Democrat party. I am confident they will pass this, just like the City of Carlsbad did here in San Diego.

Everyone knows CA needs more water and that a desal plant is the most reliable way to produce water. The trouble is that CA has a track record of doing exactly the opposite of what works for it’s citizens. However, desal plants take a fair amount of electricity to operate so…

If they are concerned about the lack of water in the state, they would approve the desal plant.
But they won’t, they don’t care.
The coastal commission is unconstitutional and should be dissolved

They want everyone poor and fighting among each other. Works for them!

We are way over due to dissolve the Coastal Com.
