For the record, in the Atlanta incident the shooter didn’t TARGET Asians. He targeted sex workers for reasons very clearly explained by the suspect himself.
Consider how different the story would be if the killer took the lives of white prostitutes…how about black prostitutes?…Latina?
The race of victims drives the story often to easy but ultimately false conclusions.

So the 2020 to 2021 increase in SF was 567%; but one person caused 1/2 the incidents which counts as 20 incidents. Two times 20 is 40 incidents; so during the the period there were a total of 40 incidents; so 2019 to 2020 there were about 7 incidents if the percentage increase is right. Funny things those numbers.

In May 2021, Joe Biden signed the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act, aimed at combatting the rise by expediting the review of hate crimes at the justice department and making grants available to help local law enforcement. After the mass shooting in Atlanta, police across the US, including San Francisco, increased patrols in Asian American communities. That presence may have helped increase reporting of bias incidents, Chin said.

Ya think? Asian hate has always been there.
