Google memory holes Press California day after record referrals

NEWS FLASH: Search results for Press California were restored late this morning. The blackout struck other conservative news site too. Google remains tight-lipped on the matter, but one working theory is the algorithm it uses to scrub conservative news was tweaked too fast and hard, resulting in immediate blowback. Anyway, a big thanks to all for your readership and support. It’s going to get crazier. Hold on to your seats.

From the Editor

North Coast, Calif. — For some years I’ve plied my trade, working hard to share independent news in California, the kind not covered or distributed by the mainstream media monopolies.

The way I see it, even it one is not a Republican, it behooves California to have a strong conservative voice to balance the liberal orthodoxy that rules our state. Think of it like (TRIGGER ALERT: Historical Reference) the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals. No one wants to see the favorites obliterate the other team at every go. The underdogs need to win every once in awhile for the sport game to be entertaining.

Villains and heroes

Politics, I’m afraid to say, is a lot like entertainment, complete with teams, colors, uniforms, chants, dreams, nightmares, villains and heroes.

Today, I have found out that the “fair competition” has yet again been crippled. Google has removed our site, now approaching 2M page views a year, from its search results.

As of last week, we were at the top result for those seeking “Press California” and among the tops for those seeking information about conservative California.

‘Your site did not appear’

As of today, one of my most loyal readers informed me of the following:

“I went to Google this morning as I always do when I’m looking for press California. Your site did not appear.”

A quick check confirmed it. We’ve gone from number one to number zero in a blink of an eye in several basic search categories. One presumed reason? We were starting to win in the Google-sphere, an institution that we in the media view with some trepidation, especially since they memory holed their own motto: Don’t Be Evil.

Coincidentally, the monster of Mountain View removed us the day after we posted a story critical of Sen. Kamala Harris, which brought in a record amount of traffic.

Needless to say, I’m ticked. And all of us who seek alternative and non-orthodox news should be too.

Getting the Schiff Schaff

I don’t want to play my violin, but this labor of love is a side hustle that, on a good day, brings in a little pizza money. I do it because it needs to be done and you, fair readers, deserve to have a place to visit, to read, discuss and share, that presents a critical, not cringeworthy, perspective on Newsom, Pelosi, Schiff, Schaaf, Becerra, Garcetti, Breed (whom I respect), and their camp, as well as the dwindling ranks of the loyal GOP opposition and the growing voices of independent conservatives.

If you are still reading, I would ask that  you consider hitting the tip jar and — more importantly — sharing Press California with your friends AND on your social media, before they completely ban sites like this one. I’ll stop there for now.  Thanks for reading.

Your humble scribe,

Richard S.

Google should be treated like a public resource. Instead it’s another disgusting propaganda tool of the Marxists (i.e. Democrats).

I visit your site daily and love the way it’s done. Great, honest journalism. I’m currently in Ohio, but will hopefully be moving to southern Oregon in the near future. I have family there. Keep it up!

I did just that a couple years ago. Made it default search engine on laptop and cell phone.

Depending on the browser you use, also consider adding a few extensions to block some of the google wants to execute on your computer, and restrict what is collected off your system.

Nice teaser on the “Heels Up” Harris story. It has rendered me powerless in the face of overwhelming curiosity.
DAH… face… it’s about the train wreck she debuted, isn’t it?

Have Press California bookmarked, so no issue for me. First thing I look at each morning after a chuckle from Babylon Bee. Relocating to the mountains of Arizona next week after 60+ years in California. Will still check in each morning though.

After the blowout for Trump in Nov and we re-take the House. Google and it’s commie techies will be made to pay.. The word is that the Repubs are going to move to remove the protection in the law so they can be sued into oblivion for 1st Amendment violations..

You hit the top of the page in my google search just now, so perhaps they undid their evil? Glad to find you though, as it’s difficult to wade through the BS. I’m always looking for fresh sources of news. Consider yourself bookmarked!

All ca.gov official government websites in CALIFORNIA (that I tested) use ALPHABET/GOOGLE ML Search.
it filters out politically what the marxists don’t like. It’s been doing it for YEARS now. I been telling you for years now, nobody has listened for years now.

No hits for “illegal aliens” “Climate Fraud” these are the ones I tested with. They are archived also. So ALPHABET can’t say oh no we didn’t do that.

Just thought you should know. Maybe remember it at Jury Duty time.
Your welcome.

Strange. I just searched Google for both Whatfinger and Press California and they were at the top of the search results.
You’re both lying.

I checked earlier this morning- ZERO results for PressCA. I checked about an hour ago, PressCA was back in the search results. You were too late to the party to catch it.

To help the site grow even larger than it is already, tell your like-minded friends about it. And hit the tip jar.

Why anyone who claims to be conservative would still use Communist Google is beyond me. FWIW, you are still number one for the search string “press california” on both DuckDuckGo.com and bing.com. People need to divorce themselves from Google, the sooner the better.

Talk about NATO replacing local cops using false “systemic racism” as a test against suspected websites and see if they ban ya. Talk about NATO Couriers who have access to the Covid and other virus and were at the wuhan games see if you don’t get banned.

This is an action a publisher takes, deciding what is published and what is not published. Section 230, was designed to protect media companies, giving them protection from lawsuits from individuals, provided they were not publishers nor editors. If a platform chooses to act as a publisher, it should be stripped of it’s 230 protections.

I believe that this would work in a lawsuit, of course it would have to be the Federal Govt. that sues. No single citizen, besides Uncle Sam, has Google $$$- enough to take them on anyways…

Any organization or individual who got censored, can file a suit. The act of a platform censoring that entity, gives them standing in a court of law.
